the thing to realize here is that conservatives find the idea of paying workers a livable wage so absurd that they make hyperbolic comparisons like this
because fifteen dollars and hour and a hundred thousand dollars an hour both mean the same thing to them; more than you deserve
^That commentary is very important.
Regardless of where you stand, unfortunately raising minimum wage will never. ever. ever. EVER. be the solution to the problem, which is that people charge way too much for their shit.
And it’s not conservatives that fight against raising minimum wage, it’s liberals who want it raised so much that the middle-men (bosses/managers for 75% of working people) have no choice but to raise their prices because everywhere/everyone else has done so, thus raising the price of goods/services which ultimately results in $7.25 /hour being proportionate to $15 /hour because instead of a gallon of gas being $4 /gallon it’s now $8 /gallon.
The source of the problem is greedy assholes, democrat/republican/liberals/conservatives and whoever-the-fuck-else, who charge more for their product in hopes to gain a bigger profit. And beyond that, even, is regulated pricing because then, instead of a company coming in and their ‘angle’ being ‘hey, we can offer this product, only better and/or cheaper’, they’re forced by regulation(s) to uphold policies and standards that are not financially stable, thus requiring them to raise the price in order to stay in business.
